My social leave of absence/Plugging the timesinks

I’m taking a leave of absence from social networking for an indefinite amount of time.

Lately it’s become an excuse to be a timesink and a means of auto-piloting relationships that deserve more real world attention…

I read recently that we should weigh what will be of value as time goes on… the time and energy I put into something like Leave Me or Greyscale compared to the time and energy I spend on Facebook and Twitter just doesn’t stack up when put under that light.

My capacity (and time) to think of/create things each day is limited, and allowing precious resources to fall prey to something that isn’t nourishing the creative side of me is something I need to re-examine and deal with personally.

If you need to reach me, call/text/write/e-mail me. I’ll still sporadically post on my blog here and that will post onto my Facebook feed, but I won’t be checking things there.

I can’t promise to return Facebook messages while on this break, and I’m even deleting my FB/Twitter apps off my phone to avoid temptation (another source of timesink).  I have no doubt I’ll eventually come back, but for now I need a period of time to detox and get to work on endeavors that will last.

Love to you all and vaya con Dios.
